Avatar: Avatar Ages - Age of Dreams, 09.01.2021

Well, I noticed with a surprise that the last review (here) was about an Avatar show that had happened in Budapest almost 2 years ago... So, it is really time to write something new. Luckily, the band mentioned above has decided to do a 4-part live stream series presenting the band's history. In this case, the ride is from the end to the beginning.

The first part was advertised like this:
"Age of Dreams will include Hunter Gatherer performed from start to finish plus some of Avatar’s biggest songs."

I really waited for this part, since the band's latest album Hunter Gatherer was a cool song collection and I was curious about how it would sound in live. Some people may have doubts about live stream concerts, but I can tell you, it was not disappointing because it was a high energy live show! Furthermore, it was a creative idea to set up more "stages", so the guys had more possibilities to perform their show in a more expressive way.

After a futuristic intro, the concert started with the very energetic song Silence In The Age Of Apes. Then the guys walk to the other "stage" to play Colossus. The background was quite impressive. The next stage-setting was known from the A Secret Door music video. It was not a question what would be the next song. The following God Of Sick Dreams was the second new song that the band had shown to the public. Let's move on! Sticking to the track list, it was the turn of Child and Justice. Then Johannes took a seat in front of a piano. Those who have already listened to the new album, knew that the next song was the lyrical Gun. The show continued with When All but Force Has Failed. Wormhole closed the first part of the event.

The second part was a so called "hit parade". Johannes entered wearing his Feathers & Flesh costume and sat by the piano and started playing The Eagle Has Landed. Later he joined the others by another "stage" with a background that reminded us of the F&F era. So, welcome to 2016! The guys played the fast and short For The Swarm, as well. There was an about 1 minute break which led us to Avatar Country while we could listen to Glory To Our King. Of course, the band changed the outfit and started performing The King Welcomes You To Avatar Country. There was quite festive atmosphere accompanied with some pyrotechnics. Then the King walked to the other "stage" where the members of his Elite Orchestra were waiting for him. The other song from the album Avatar Country was A Statue Of The King. Of course, if we talk about "Avatar hits", we also think of such songs as Let It Burn, Bloody Angel, Smells Like A Freakshow and Hail The Apocalypse. These few ones closed the last block of Age of Dreams and we could also see the guys' outerwear (yes, there was a very short intermezzo) that evoked the older memories. What's more, Johannes' barrel organ was not forgotten either!

All in all, it was a really cool one and a half hour! And it is not too late to join the band on the next journey! Check avatarages.com!
