Avatar: Avatar Ages: Age of Madness, 23.01.2021

Madness was the best word to define the 3rd part of Avatar Ages. This time the band went back to the Black Waltz and the Hail The Apocalypse eras.

The intro video looked like a scene of a slasher movie. It was a brilliant idea to connect it with the live stream concert. Johannes kicked the door at the end of the video and entered the door at the beginning of the show. He looked around but didn't find anything, so he left the "room" through another door. There was nothing by the piano either, he continued the searching. Then he found the other guys standing with their instruments as if they had been statues. Needless to say, everyone wore their HTA costume. Some moments later, Johannes broke into a smile as he had found his barrel organ! Everything was ready to start the song Hail The Apocalypse. Scenes from (for example) older documentaries were screened in the background. Then the vocalist joined his bandmates to perform Torn Apart. I like that each song has its own "choreography". Then everything turned to dark and Johannes appeared illuminated by red light. Actually, I had two thoughts. First of all, he looked like a psychopath, but on the other hand, he reminded me of a wrestler. The next song was Blod. This one is rare in the setlists nowadays, but thanks to the fans, it turned up again. There was a moment when I thought, Johannes had made of rubber.

In Napalm has been put away for some time, too. It was good to hear this song again in live. Then we could hear child noises and sideshow music while Johannes was going to the "Black Waltz" scene with some red and yellow balloons in his hand. We knew which song would be the next. Anyway, poor balloons ended up badly. After the death of the balloons, the vocalist invited Jonas to the middle of the "stage" embracing him. The guitarist started to play Let It Burn. I really liked the background with symbolized flaming guitar strings that turned into a flaming Avatar logo and other things. Then Johannes taking off his coat introduced Paint Me Red. After the song, there was a funny moment. Johannes started to sing Paint Me Red repeatedly when John interrupted him. It was a bad idea and John had to escape :). But he couldn't escape from his fate. He was caught and had to sit by his drum kit. When everyone took their place, the band played Puppet Show. It was followed by Ready For The Ride. Then sounds of a siren could be heard and the intro of Vultures Fly accompanied with a flashing red light. As the music started, we could see the music video in the background. I hope, this song will be included in the setlist in the future! The piano had an important role in the next song. It had to support Johannes while he was singing Tower. This version was amazing! We went back to a more energetic song called Murderer, the frontman was like a crazy clown :). Then he introduced Get In Line in a philosophical way. The band also played Tsar Bomba. When I hear this song, the "a capella" version always comes into my mind. And we arrived to Bloody Angel. It is also a hit-song and an indispensable element of an Avatar show. It is the same with Smells Like A Freakshow which closed this crazy event.

I really enjoyed this part, it brought back nostalgic memories. The guys went the whole hog performing a very intense show. I can't wait for the next part! I think, it will be very interesting!
