ELECTRIFIED: “My World On Fire” (Valve Studio Records)

Listening to the “My World on Fire” I felt like I was listening to a pure 80’s hard rock record, straight out from a time that the songs rock songs were big radio hits. Electrified with their debut not only they revive a hard rock/metal sound that was faded in the 90’s but they manage to reestablish, in their music, the original rock star sound that is full of excitement and explosive energy.

Before we go on, some introductions are in order. The Electrified is a Greek-German musical project that was formed in 2020 by the guitarists Constantine Markou and Anthimos Manti. Two months ago, the band released its debut album, “My World On Fire”, the perfect soundtrack for a hard rock summer.

With songs that span from hard rock to heavy metal, the tracks balance among two main variants which are the guitars and keys. I don’t mean to be misunderstood; the vocals with the absolutely catchy and melodic vocal lines and the rhythmic section of punchy bass lines and precise drum work are incredible. However, the arrangements have been mostly made around the lead guitars and the melodic lines of the synths and keyboards. Shredding solos and sharp hard rock and rock ‘n’ roll riffs with a splash of metal, with a vintage yet bright sound, compose an album that, apart from being a collection of hits, has the necessary and very much missed guitar showmanship that defined the 80’s.

The keyboard lines in the “Beneath the Sky” brought to mind some of those by the great Jon Lord, while songs like the “Time and Time Again” and the “Prisoner of Your Eyes” have something of the Dokken in their sound. Also, something should be mentioned is that tracks like the aforementioned “Beneath the Sky”, the “Shot Through the Heart” and the “World on Fire” are made to be played before live audiences, so let’s hope that we get the chance to see Electrified live.

Concluding, the “My World On Fire” is a great first step by the Electrified and you must absolutely check it out, if you want to listen to a great hard rock and to feel slightly nostalgic.
