BATTLE SYMPHONY: “War On Earth” (15 May 2022, Soman Records)

A rebellious human force raises war against the alien and humans inhabitants of Planet Earth. Dystopian scenery, sci-fi action and epic power metal are the key elements of Battle Symphony’s debut album, “War on Earth”.

Created by the Greek, author and keyboardist, Nikos Tzouannis, the Metal Opera “War on Earth” is a great new release that on May the 15th will be unleashed through the Soman Records to take the power metal scene by storm.

In three words, the “War on Earth” is epic, majestic and melodic. We are talking about power metal inspired by bands like the Rhapsody, Labyrinth and Lost Horizon, so it couldn’t be anything less than that. Also, in the record participates the singer of Labyrinth, Roberto Tiranti, and the ex-singer of Lost Horizon, Daniel Heiman.

The ranks of Battle Symphony in “War on Earth” are full of talented musicians that offer their own personal touch and artistic style, composing a memorable power metal album. Among others are Gus Drax (Sunburst, Suicidal Angels and Black Fate), Stathis Pavlantis (Reflection), Julian Kuster (Black Eden) and Nicholas Leptos (Arrayan Path, ex-Warlord).

Musically, the Battle Symphony combine the traditional heavy/power metal with some classical and folk elements, a successful blend that cannot miss.

The recipe might seem a bit too familiar and some might say overused, but the Battle Symphony manage to present a fresh sound, full of excitement and energy. I had a long time to get excited with a power metal record and this one really hit a nerve.

Listening to the album, I was reminded of the first time I listened to the legendary “Nightfall in Middle Earth” by the Blind Guardian. The “War on Earth” managed to provoke similar thoughts and that awe you feel when the album is great. And to support this claim, since it is quite gritty, the album lasts for more than an hour and I never noticed how quickly the time passed. I was simply drawn into the epic and majestic atmosphere of the album and the narrative of the lyrics.

Summing up, the Battle Symphony are clearly on the right path to earn a spot on the hearts of the fans as one the most promising new bands. I cannot recommend enough the “War on Earth” and I suggest that you give it a listen since it doesn’t take more to get hooked on the epic riffs and epic melodies of Battle Symphony.
