St. Aurora: ”They all remember” EP (28 May 2021, self release)

St. Aurora
is a new band coming from Helsinki, Finland. “They All Remember” EP is their debut release. In the 5 songs of the EP St. Aurora unfold in the most brilliant way their talent in songwriting and they give us one of the most decent releases in the melodic/heavy/punk sound for 2021!

"Falling (Just Another Way to Fly)" is the first video coming from the EP. The song is super catchy and it has an alternative/indie sound that immediately caught my attention. It is very well constructed and although it is a sheer hard rocking track, it is also a radio friendly tune with a memorable chorus and fantastic and powerful guitars. I also loved the Ville Valo (HIM) influence on the vocal lines and the general emotion the track transmits.

However, St. Aurora is by no means a HIM-copy band. In “They All Remember” EP there is a really big variety of songs, and the influences vary from punk to metal. St. Aurora choose to evolve their Alternative Rock style to either high energetic parts or emotional slower pieces accordingly with every song.

St. Aurora can very easily change mood from aggressiveness to fragileness. Every tune is catchy in its own way, but it is of great importance that St. Aurora have the special ability to create memorable songs.

On the other hand, although they are a fresh band consisted of young people, St. Aurora seem to appreciate a lot the older music styles too, like the late 70’s and 80’s punk, the 90’s alternative/indie/grunge rock, the old blues/southern rock music and of course the after 00’s heavy styles like metalcore, deathcore, screamo, post-hardcore etc.

All these influences are used as ingredients and blend into an own type of expression that colors their music ideas and their fresh lyrics with the color of youth and with great passion.

I really wonder how a St. Aurora full length will sound like, but for the moment “They All Remember” EP is an excellent beginning for them. It is a statement of where this band can go and at the same time a great introduction in the worldwide music scene. It is an EP that covers many of the colors they have in their palette. And as such it is highly recommended!

For fans of: Slipknot, HIM, Avenged Sevenfold, Hanoi Rocks, In This Moment, Falling in Reverse, Sum 41.
