Project Renegade is a four-member metal band from Athens, Greece, founded by Marianna Florou and Odysseas Avgoulis (Ody). In 2019, the band released its first full-length album, “Order of the Minus”, two years after the release of their EP, “Cerebra”.

The sound of the “Order of the Minus” derives from an alternative, modern and heavy background blended with electronic and ambient elements. A strong sense of groove all throughout, chunky, galloping riffs, wide powerful choruses and a few metalcore influences, conclude the general musical aspect of the Project Renegade. Also, the slightly upfront placed bass produces a solid low-end that carries the weight of the compositions.

In their debut full-length work, Project Renegade explores the subject of "loss" in the modern world. From social strife and labelling of peers, to psychological conflicts and personal loss, the band sets and examines the aforementioned concept as a potential idea to inspire and unite today’s youth. As the band states, this record promotes the belief that if we all understand and accept the fact the we share this “loss”, we can start perceiving each other as equals and focus on improving our world and our life.

This concept of unity under the idea of a “common loss” is interpreted successfully not only through their lyrics, but in their music as well. Apart from the intro in the song, “The New Joker”, with the crashing-like-thunder riff, the band aims in expressing their emotionally charged concept. As a result, the record feels absolutely solid and cohesive.

The “Order of the Minus” has been out for two years, but it’s never too late to discover new and exciting music. Project Renegade’s full length debut is an album solid, with musical cohesion and a thought provoking lyrical theme and idea. A complete record in every aspect that absolutely deserves your attention.
