CROSSON: "Live At The Orpheum" (June 2021, self-release)

Crosson, the theatrical glam rockers, present their first live album entitled “Live at the Orpheum”. Filmed in high definition with multi cameras in front of the excited crowd of the Orpheum Theatre in Sydney, the album shows the Crosson in their natural element, delivering their highly entertaining, choreographed and exciting shows.

The selling point of “Live at the Orpheum” is that it combines the best of both worlds by portraying the authentic Crosson experience. I will elaborate.

First of all and before anything else, Crosson are entertainers and the theatricality is a key aspect of the band. Like the legendary Kiss, the true self of their songs is unveiled in their live performances. No matter how catchy the song is, the studio version can’t express exactly its anthemic side or show the stage routine that the band has planned for the particular track.

In the “Live at the Orpheum” this gap is paved thanks to the audio-visual material of the album. Now, you can enjoy the Crosson live in your living room.

Especially, if you have never heard of Crosson before their live work is your chance to get introduced properly to their sound and attitude.

Mostly because of the audio-video combo but also, due to the fact that in this album, Crosson, have gathered their finest tracks. No one has ever gotten hooked to a band thanks to their boring tracks. Crosson choose their finest artillery and unleash a wave of catchy, uplifting, songs that will make you sing and dance along after a couple of minutes.

Apart from their original compositions, the “Live at the Orpheum” includes two covers of the legendary songs “We Will Rock You” by Queen and “Money, money, money” by Abba.

Both are interpreted excellently and are given a new breath of glam rock. The “We Will Rock You” reminds almost nothing of the minimalistic original song and yet it has all that distinctive power this time expressed through the Crosson’s sound. As for the “Money, money, money” the Abba-effect kicks in. And for those who don’t know that the Abba-effect is, well it’s only the blending of Abba’s songs with rock or metal that results in absolutely killer tunes.

I could keep on writing about how good this live album is and how fitting for a band like Crosson, but in order to understand you have to experience it yourself. The “Live at the Orpheum” is 42 minutes of uplifting, catchy songs guaranteed to entertain you.
